ニール・ダイアモンドが作曲し、メンフィスのアメリカン・サウンド・スタジオのハウスバンドが演奏を担当した。
1年後の1970年、クランシー・エックルズがレゲエ・バージョンを制作した。この曲はジャマイカのレゲエ・グループ、ファビュラス・フレームズにとって即効性のある成功を収め、英国のポピュラー・ミュージック・チャートに入るところまでいった。

This is a 1969 Pop tune that was influenced by gospel music.
Written by Neil Diamond with instrumental backing provided by the American Sound Studio house band in Memphis.
One year later in 1970, Clancy Eccles produced the reggae version.The song was an instant success for Jamaican reggae group the Fabulous Flames, almost crossing into the UK's popular music chart.
The Fabulous Flames members includes : Glen Ricks, Lloyd Lovindeer, Oswald Douglas and Kirk Samuels.
